Ugandan vanilla is renowned for its exceptional quality and distinct flavour profile. It is mainly grown in the tropical southern regions of the country, which benefit from a favourable climate and nutrient-rich soils, which contribute to the complexity of its flavours.

Main features:
- Aroma: Ugandan vanilla is known for its rich, creamy notes, with nuances of caramel, chocolate and fruit. It also has subtle spicy notes that make it unique from other vanilla varieties.

- Appearance: Ugandan vanilla pods are often larger and plumper than those from other regions, with a high vanillin content, which contributes to the intensity of its aroma and taste.

- Production: Uganda is one of the few countries in Africa to produce vanilla in significant quantities, with cultivation often carried out by small producers. The harvest and drying process are done manually, which guarantees a high quality product.

- Use: Due to its aromatic richness, Ugandan vanilla is prized in gastronomy, particularly for making desserts, perfumery, and even as an ingredient for certain alcohols and liqueurs.

Ugandan vanilla is therefore a variety sought after by chefs and gourmets around the world, not only for its distinct flavor profile but also for its superior quality.

How to use vanilla?

Vanilla is a versatile spice that can be used in many different ways to flavor and enhance both sweet and savory dishes, with vanilla from Uganda and Papua New Guinea, for example, working wonderfully well.

What to do with the pods after use?

They can be reused in other preparations to make powder, vanilla sugar, syrup or in alcohol and also in infusions to prolong their flavor.
